Stakeholders across the nooks and crannies of Nigeria that converged in Abuja on Tuesday 30th April,2024 for one day security summit has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sign the bill of Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, NHFSS into law.
The assertion was made yesterday in a security summit organised by the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, NHFSS in commemoration of third anniversary of NHFSS Bill been passed at the Senate.
In his welcome address, the Commander General, Amb Osatimehin Joshua Wole reiterated that the role of Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, NHFSS is not only to integrate Nigeria ‘s forests but to combat insecurity, kidnapping and punctuate illegal mining activities.
The anniversary theme; “Enhancing National Security in Nigeria’s Forests: The Role and Integration of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) in Combating Insecurity, Kidnapping and Illegal Mining Activities” was subdivided into key four topics.
“Suggested Policies and Legal Frameworks for Integrating the NHFSS into Nigeria’s Security Architecture, Strategies for Integrating the NHFSS into the Operational Framework of National Security, Enhancing Interagency Collaboration and Coordination for Security in Forested and Ungoverned Spaces and The Potential Roles of the NHFSS in Curbing Kidnapping, Illegal Mining and Banditry Activities in Nigeria: Mitigation and Tackling Strategies” were handled by superb and cerebral security professionals.
The summit was filled with Royal Fathers, Governors or their Representatives virtually from all the 36 States of Nigeria including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Other special invited guests include His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Vice President, His Excellency, Kashim Shettima, GCON.
Others include Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker, Federal House of Representatives and Nuhu Ribadu mni, National Security Adviser.
However, other security agencies such as Police, Army, DSS, Civil Defense, NDLEA, FRSC, Custom etc were present at the one day summit organised by the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, NHFSS.
