A 2019 Presidential Aspirant under a renowned political party in Nigeria, a superlative Medical Practitioner in the country and the originator of #YesWeFit movement, Dr. Thomas-Wilson Ikubese has not only congratulated Nigerians for this year’s Democracy day, but encouraged them to hopefully look forward to the era at which Nigeria democracy will be call to serve, not opportunity to accumulate wealth.
Dr. Thomas-Wilson Ikubese had earlier posted in his facebook account that what Traore is doing in his country is worthy of emulation and such can be better achieved in a well structured democracy, that is, the true democracy of the people, for the people and by the people.
The Chief Medical Director of Sckye Hospitals Limited that is strategically located in the earth of Akure, Dr. Ikubese who made the assertion on Thursday 12th June, 2025 via his facebook account, disclosed that Nigerians are seriously far from benefiting the true dividends of democracy.
According to him, the very few individuals that are keenly benefiting in Nigeria democracy are those in the corridor of power together with their family members, which is greatly uncalled for and serious aberation to true democracy.
“As we celebrate “democracy day” today
We the people are far from benefiting
Of the true dividends of democracy.” Ikubese said.
In addition, it is very unfortunate that the few Nigerians that are benefiting are feasting on the commonwealth of the generality.
“They sure benefit
That are in the corridors of power
But the true benefit should be for all
And not them alone
That hover around the seat of power
Feasting on our commonwealth
I keep hope alive
That someday , our dream nation shall birth
Where politics shall be for service
And not to accumulate wealth!”
