The Ondo State Government has observed with concern the recent act of vandalism carried out on one of the newly installed traffic lights in Araromi, Akure metropolis, where functioning cables were deliberately cut and stolen.
This action, which undermines the collective progress of our State, is both condemnable and unacceptable. Public infrastructure is provided to improve safety, ease traffic flow, and enhance the quality of life for residents. Any attempt to destroy these facilities is an attack on the wellbeing of the people themselves.
The Government, therefore, appeals to members of the public to protect these installations and to report any suspicious activity around public infrastructure. Those behind this selfish act are strongly warned to desist immediately, as security agencies have been directed to ensure that perpetrators are apprehended and prosecuted.
The Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye calls on all residents to join hands with government in safeguarding these investments so that everyone can fully enjoy the benefits of the ongoing infrastructural development across Ondo State. Together, we can build a State where progress is protected and sustained.
