Hundreds of Okeigbo Youths trooped out today Monday 26th October, 2025 to protest simultaneously in Okeigbo and Akure the capital city of Ondo State over alleged imposition of Okeigbo king.

The chairman of Oluoke Chiefs-In-Council, High Chief Deji Akintokunbo who addressed the protesters on behalf of Oluoke Chiefs-In-Council via the Secretary, Chief Oloyede Lawrence reaffirmed their committment to the values of unity, selfless service and development that Okeigbo community holds dearly.

According to the paper made available to City Movers online, the Chiefs assured the youths that they will continue to priortize tolerance, respect for authorities and peaceful dialogue in resolving their differences while their goal is to build a brighter future for Okeigbo where every voice is heard and every contribution is valued.

Some of the placards displayed read “We don’t need imposition of Oba in Okeigbo,” “Wait for Appeal Court Judgement before you proceed on selection and appointment of new Oluoke” “We want peace in Okeigbo”.

The commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alh. Amidu Takuro who held meeting with the leaders of protesters in his office told them that his ministry will certainly oblige with court judgement.

As regards the relationship with the commissioner and the former local government chairman, Ile-oluji/Okeigbo, Hon Folagbade Gbemibade popularly called ‘Flagon’ who was alleged of influencing the decision of the ministry.

City Movers Editor, Bayo Adediran put a call across to the Commissioner, Alh. Amidu Takuro to verify the allegation, in his response, Alh. Takuro explained that his relationship with Folagbade can never influence his rightful and legal decision. He said, though, the case is still in appeal court waiting for judgement any moment from now, but there’s high court judgement in place.

While explaining the current legal situation to City Movers, the Oluoke Media Director, Hon. Alexander Omojadegbe elucidated that there’s court injunction for stay of execution of the high court judgement. He therefore admonished the ministry to patiently wait for the appeal court verdict for peace to reign in the community.
